Harnessing the space environment to develop better therapies.

Prometheus is advancing the development of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC)-derived liver organoids for applications in liver regeneration and cell therapy. These organoids are being evaluated using an ex vivo liver perfusion platform to investigate their functionality, integration potential and therapeutic relevance in a physiologically relevant environment.

Our scaffold-free technology enables the formation of 3D liver organoids without artificial scaffolding or supporting matrices. This approach aims to minimise the use of foreign materials and the associated risk of material-related immune reactions. By using autologous mesenchymal stem cells, obtained from and intended for transplantation into the same patient, we aim to further reduce the risk of immune rejection while supporting tissue repair and regeneration.

Combining scaffold-free organoid technology with patient-derived cells offers a promising pathway towards personalised regenerative therapies. By leveraging the unique conditions of the space environment, we aim to further advance organoid manufacturing and unlock new possibilities for future cell-based treatments.
